One Bennett Park is a 68-story, 280-unit apartment and condo tower at 514 N Peshtigo Ct in Streeterville.
The building is mixed-use and includes 65 condos and a 1.7 acre park designed by Michael Van Valkenburgh & Associates. Construction began in spring 2016, and first occupancy was in late 2018.
One Bennett Park is, for now, the tallest all-residential building in Chicago.
Related Midwest is the developer and Robert A.M. Stern Architects is the architecture firm.
The apartments
One Bennett Park offers 1-bedroom to 4-bedroom, 4 ½ bath apartments. Floor plans and near real-time rent and availability info are online.
The apartments have generously-sized rooms, high ceilings, large windows and plank flooring throughout. Kitchens have waterfall quartz countertops, custom cabinetry, cabinet-front Sub-Zero refrigerators and Bosch appliances.
Oversized baths have herringbone tile flooring, tile wainscoting and custom vanities. Closets have custom organizers.
Views. One Bennett Park is on a direct east-west axis with Lake Point Tower and 500 Lake Shore Drive, which obscures the views of Navy Pier, but views in all directions are spectacular. Views to the south and west are some of the best.
Amenities, services, policies
One Bennett Park has focused its amenities on spaces that are likely to get the most use.
The extensive amenities include a variety of resident lounges, a children’s play room, a game room, an event space, and more.
The club-quality fitness center has a wide variety of state-of-the-art cardio- and strength-training equipment. There are both indoor and outdoor pools.
One Bennett Park has an adjacent park and is steps from Lake Shore Drive. The building’s below-ground parking has 900 parking spaces, some of them open to the public.
The location
One Bennett Park is a short block west of Lake Shore Drive
Navy Pier and other nearby attractions make the location a major tourist draw, which is either a plus or a minus, depending on your preferences.
Shopping. Whole Foods is a few blocks west of the building.
A Target Express recently opened a block west of the building.
A Walgreen’s Pharmacy is a short walk west.
Michigan Avenue’s Magnificent Mile begins a few blocks west of One Bennett Park.
Dining, nightlife, entertainment.
Head east to the restaurants at Navy Pier if you’re in a tourist state of mind. Head west and you’ll quickly encounter a restaurant-dense environment, with something for almost every mood and palate.
Show up early or expect a wait for the large portions at Yolk, a popular breakfast spot at the corner of Grand & McClurg, or check out Kanela Breakfast Club in the building across the street.
If you’re a bowling or movie buff you can loft a few over the lanes at Lucky Strike then head downstairs to catch a movie at AMC River East, a long block west of One Bennett Park. There’s also Pinstripes, just across the street from One Bennett Park.
Parks, recreation. The building has very convenient access to Navy Pier, Jane Addams Memorial Park, Ohio Street Beach and the Lakefront Trail.
Lake Shore Park, which has a running track, softball fields, tennis courts, a playground and a small field house, is a few short blocks north.
Transportation. The location is poorly served by public transportation, with the exception of CTA bus routes.
Access to and from Lake Shore Drive, as you’d expect, is superb. Reaching I-90/94 and the rest of the city’s expressway grid can often involve a tedious, time-consuming slog. Expect near-gridlock conditions when there’s a major event in the neighborhood.
Taxi, Uber and Lyft service is readily available, 24/7, at the location.
