Chicago luxury high-rises, circa 2007

A year ago today we posted a round-up story on Chicago’s “soaring skyline,” featuring nine luxury super-talls.

The headline today might be “Chicago’s souring skyline” – 4 of the 9 may never be built.

  • The glass is half full. There were a lot of beautiful buildings built during the boom.

I can’t wait to see The Legacy reshape the loop skyline. Also there are a bunch of highrises still being constructed slightly shorter than 700ft (ie: One Museum Park West).

Gotta love supertalls for shots like this:

  • The Sears Tower was topped off in 1974 during an awful market. Let’s hope for the best.
