View from the Winthrop Club, 1570 Elmwood Ave, Evanston

I can’t take credit for these panoramas and view shots — they came with the Winthrop Club‘s digital press kit — but they’re too nice to leave on the disc.

Thanks to the bend of Lake Michigan’s shoreline, homes on all sides of the tower at 1570 Elmwood Ave in Evanston should have at least a sliver of lake views, either from inside or (in the case of west-facing units) the corner of a balcony. The view of Chicago is awfully nice on a clear day or night, and the surrounding sea of treetops isn’t too shabby, either.

  • So what has happened with the Winthrop Club? The place has been finished for at least 5 months and nobody has moved in that I can see. Our offices have views into the Winthrop club and all of the units are empty from what I observe both in the day and the evening. The only thing I have noticed is that they leave some of the lights on in the empty units at night, perhaps on purpose? I overheard a co-worker say that she heard this building was going rental. Does anyone know the real story?
