Pardon our dust – Yo design improvements coming this weekend

We’ve been working hard at the Yo during the last year to bring you the biggest, bestest, funnest site devoted to Chicago housing and neighborhoods on all the Web. That effort has paid off with an expanding audience (from 4,000 unique visitors a month on our old, lame Web site to about 33,000 on Yo at last count) and with some snazzy features (our growing collection of videos and photos; comprehensive housing guides; our own housing wire service; and pithy posts).

But we’re not the type to rest on our laurels, or to rest at all, these days. Beginning this weekend, you’ll notice some changes that are designed to make YoChicago a little friendlier and easier to navigate.

For starters, we’re moving to a wider screen and adding another column or “rail” on the left side of our home page. This is a recognition of the way most of our readers have their screen resolutions set, and it should make more information easier for them to find. We’re also combining YoChicago today – the “journal” we used to feed the center content on our front page – and YoChicago.com into a single front page. This should eliminate some confusion and present readers with a single, highly functional front page.

Please bear with us as we do a little housecleaning and make these improvements. If you can’t find something, or if you have a complaint, idea or suggestion, shoot us an e-mail. We’d love to hear from you as we work to be the best that Yo can be.
