Six months ago, several weeks after the ceremonial groundbreaking for a new Pete’s Fresh Market, there was no sign of activity at the site, at the southeastern corner of Madison and Western.
According to 2nd Ward Alderman Robert Fioretti’s most recent email newsletter, construction will start next month:
Pete’s Fresh Market, has been granted a building permit to begin construction next month on its new 55,000 square-foot store at Madison and Western. This grocery store will close an existing food desert and is anticipated to be completed by next Summer [sic]. Alderman Fioretti has worked tirelessly with City departments and Pete’s to bring this market to the area, and he looks forward to it being opened next year.
