The converted church at the corner of Walton Street and Western Avenue in Humboldt Park has always stood out as one of the more unique condo developments in the city, but we’ve always judged it on looks alone, because no Yo writer has ever set foot in the 13-unit development.
Following up on our Wednesday conversation, Baird & Warner agent Rebbecca Farrell emailed a few photos of the building’s interior, and judging from the kitchen and bathroom finishes, they look pretty similar to many of the other modernist dwellings we’ve seen recently on the Near West Side.
As I reported yesterday, the last two available condos at The Sanctuary, 2411 W Walton St, are priced in the $410s and the $440s.

That view pic is incredible.
The interior looks fine, pretty much up my alley, the skyline view from the roof is great but the exterior, IMO, is terrible. I walk by this daily, and the aluminum siding, or whatever it is, that they used for the addition just looks bad. I understand that they probably had to fit more units into the building to make the numbers work, the but result just doesn’t work even if the numbers do. Brick or another stone would have been much better, a modern glass and steel addition could have worked, but this? SSDD
