Pick a place: Same rent, same size, different styles in Printers Row, Bucktown

If you needed a 2,400 square-foot home for $3,000 a month right now, you could have either of these places. How would you rather spend your buck-twenty-five per square foot?

Everything about unit #505 (above) at the Folio Square Lofts, 124 W Polk St in Printers Row, screams SPACE!, from its 11-foot ceiling heights and 85 lateral feet of window facing south and west, to the 60-inch cherry cabinets in the 15′ x 10′ kitchen. Renters will also have access to a common roof deck atop the 96-year-old building. Parking is available in an adjacent building, but so much of what you’ll need is accessible by foot.

The four-bedroom / 3.5-bath townhome (bel0w) at 2317 N Hamilton Ave isn’t quite as convenient for walkers, even by Bucktown‘s slightly lower standards, but it is a multi-level home on a residential street, which may appeal more to family types, and at least you’ll have a place to park the car that you’re inevitably going to use. The unit was built in 2001 and has the usual package of finishes — granite countertops, marble baths, stainless-steel appliances, separate master tub and shower, etc.
