We snapped these pics of “rebel pigeons” defying the CTA and RTA’s efforts to keep them out at the Davis el stop and Metra Main Street Station in Evanston.

They have also invented a way to build nests around those “bird control” fence-like structures that some homeowners put on their exterior window sills. It’s a pigeon’s city, people…we just live in it.
I’ve noticed a drop in the Uptown pigeon population since peregrine Falcons were “nested” at the Uptown Theatre.
Pigeons cost the city and CTA MILLIONS of dollars yearly.
I have a solution. Licensed pigeon hunters with a bounty on the head of each DEAD pigeon.
Allegedly, in the distant past, so far back the statute of limitations is long over, someone who looked remarkably like me would shoot pigeons in the lightwell of the building he lived in.
Allegedly.
ip,
A bounty? Unnecessary.
How about some barbecue grills at Montrose and Broadway, and nets for the locals to toss. Feed the hungry, and all that.
Joe,
you need to head over to Wilson and Broadway for that. More pigeons there. At least there used to be more there.
Those peregrine falcons must dine well.
As for feeding the hungry……..that is a good angle. Only problem is the bird lovers and those concerned with the homeless and hungry would have to fight it out.
I could sell tickets for that bout. Use the money to renovate the Uptown Theater and buy more peregrine falcons!
What person in a lucid state of mind would eat a pigeon? Pigeons are nothing more than “flying rats”.
