Today is the greatest…time to buy! Despite all his rage, Billy Corgan’s home is still…oh, forget it.
The Smashing Pumpkins frontman has been trying to sell his Gold Coast home for a couple years, and now he’s open to renting it out, the Tribune reports. Corgan bought the 3,700 square-foot, full-floor home in the old Patterson-McCormick Mansion, 1500 N Astor St, in 2002 for $2.95 million, listed it in September 2008 for $5.5 million, dropped it down to $4.35 million in April 2009, again to $3.87 million in October 2009, and currently has it priced at $3.55 million. (Assuming this trajectory resembles his band’s career, we’re where, the Adore era? He better hope he sells before the market hits its Machina phase.)
Corgan’s Realtor, Frances Elliott of Estate Properties, tells the Trib the home is also available for $10,000 a month.
An almost identical unit directly above is listed at $3.5 million, and Elliott suggests a buyer could make a great 7,000 square-foot duplex out of them both. Conjoined condos? Sounds like a real Siamese dream home! (C’mon, Trib, she set that one up on a tee.)
