Reside on Morse is a 4-story, 110-unit apartment building at 1340 W Morse in the Glenwood Ave Arts District in Rogers Park.

The building, which was completed in 1967, has undergone substantial renovation since its acquisition by an affiliate of Reside Living.

The apartments

Reside on Morse has a mix of studio, 1- and 2-bedroom floor plans. Some of the 2-bedrooms have a bath-and-a-half. Floor plans and availability are accessible online.

Studios span 413 to 478 square feet and 1-bedrooms 663 to 711 square feet. Two-bedrooms range in size from 967 to 1,042 square feet.

Kitchens and baths have been updated. Kitchens are open to living areas and have ample cabinet and counter space, stainless steel and black appliances with dishwashers and built-in microwaves.

The apartments have hardwood floors in living areas and carpeted bedrooms. Closet space is generally good. One- and two-bedroom apartments have a well-defined dining area.

Amenities, services, policies

Reside on Morse has more extensive common area amenities than most neighborhood buildings.


The building has a fitness room, a resident lounge, outdoor patio and grilling areas, a laundry room, bicycle storage and resident storage lockers. Free basic Wi-Fi is available.


Reside on Morse is pet-friendly, subject to limits, and smoke-free. There are 65 on-site parking spaces.

The location

Reside on Morse is three blocks from Lake Michigan in the Glenwood Ave Arts District in Rogers Park. The location has convenient access to shopping, transportation, theaters, bars and restaurants.

It’s within walking distance of Loyola University’s Lake Shore campus.

Shopping. Reside on Morse residents have very convenient access to day-to-day shopping destinations.

There’s a Golden Mini Mart across the street from the building


Morse Fresh Market, just west of the El stop, garners positive reviews for its reasonably-priced produce, bakery, meats, cheeses and more. Morse “L” Drugs, steps from the El, is a long-time neighborhood favorite.

Dining, nightlife, entertainment. There’s a surprisingly good selection of bars, restaurants and entertainment options in the immediate area.



Grill Inn, Los Portales, Hira’s Cafe, Chuckie’s and Pub 626 are a short block west of the building.


Common Cup and No Exit are two quirky coffee shops near the building, and the venerable Heartland Café is a few minutes’ walk away.


Pizza lovers can head two doors east of the building to J.B. Alberto’s or continue a few short blocks further to Giordano’s on Sheridan.


A little further south on Sheridan you’ll find the four-screen New 400 Theaters, Starbucks, Rice Thai Café and more restaurants.

Mayne Stage, Reside on Morse’s next-door neighbor, is one of a number of live performance venues near the building.

Parks, recreation. Reside on Morse residents have convenient access to public parks and recreational activities.


The long stretches of beach fronting Lake Michigan in Rogers Park are three blocks east of Reside on Morse.

Loyola Park, a few blocks northeast of the building, boasts a large fieldhouse with two gyms, a woodshop and a boxing center. The park has baseball and softball fields, a two-hoop basketball court, sand volleyball courts, tennis courts, a playground and a two-thirds of a mile long trail along the beach.

Transportation. Reside on Morse has excellent access to public transportation.

Reside on Morse is steps from the CTA Red Line stop at Morse. The Red Line travels northbound to Evanston and southbound through Uptown, Wrigleyville, Lakeview, Lincoln Park, the Gold Coast and River North on its way to the Loop.


The #155 bus stops outside the building and runs south on Sheridan Rd to the Loyola campus then west to Devon Ave shops. The #96 bus also stops outside the building and runs westbound to Lincolnwood Town Center, which is anchored by Kohl’s and Carson Pirie Scott.

Crosstown access to I-90/94 and the city’s expressway grid is inconvenient from this location. Access to the city’s airports is inconvenient.

A Zipcar car sharing location is on-site at the building. DIVVY bikes are not currently available this far north, but plans call for adding a station just outside the building in 2015. Taxi service in the area is sporadic compared to denser locations further south in the city.

The competition

There are quite a few apartment buildings in the immediate area. As with most Chicago neighborhoods, your best bet for finding the best apartments is often walking, biking or driving the area looking for FOR RENT signs.

Rentals are also typically available in a number of nearby condo buildings.
