The average sale price of a single-family home in Edgewater over the past year has been just under $590,000, and the average for a condo was just over $210,000. Within walking distance of the Thorndale Red Line station (between Broadway and Winthrop Avenue) are two homes priced near those averages.
A three-bedroom American Four-Square at 1303 W Norwood Ave went on the market in early August for $599,900, but by the end of that month had dropped to its current price of $584,900. @properties agent John Wyman describes the home as having “a wonderful mix of vintage charm and modern updates,” including original woodwork, pocket doors, leaded glass, new electrical and plumbing, new windows, a newer roof, kitchen, and baths, a paver patio, a second-floor deck, and “a front porch made for a porch swing.” 2008 taxes are $5,036. The home gets a “walker’s paradise” Walk Score of 98 and an “excellent” Transit Score of 74 — not only is it less than a quarter-mile to the Red Line, but it’s no more than four-tenths of a mile from stops for five different bus routes.
