Leave it to Jake LaMotta himself to stare the dreaded hotel-condo concept in the face and yell, “You didn’t get me down!” According to the New York Times, Robert De Niro and his son Raphael want to sell suites in Miami using different rules than the ones that govern traditional hotel-condo projects, which can’t obtain Fannie Mae approval at the moment. Instead of being able to use their units for a maximum of three or four months out of the year, buyers can stay in their suites as long as they like, but the hotel will not put the units into a rental pool when not in use.
