Rockwell Crossing: Chicago's "Little Mayberry"

Mark and I stepped off a Brown Line train yesterday afternoon and into the short stretch of North Rockwell Street in Lincoln Square known as Rockwell Crossing. The Brown Line bisects this block-long pocket of restaurants and stores between Leland and Eastwood avenues. Some patrons worried the closing and renovation of the Rockwell station in 2006 would be enough to kill the street’s retail, but Mark and I saw many of the same shops that were open back when Barry visited the area more than three years ago.
