While all of us are busily mocking the “West Roscoe Village” usage, apartment rental services are busy extending the boundaries of Roscoe Village.
Based on a brief survey of Craigslist apartment ads,, Roscoe Village now extends as far north / west as Belle Plaine and Elston, and as far south / west as Wellington and the river. The eastern boundaries are holding, except for parts of Uptown, which are being overtaken by Roscoe Village.
The battle cry for renting out-of-favor locations: It takes a Village.
The only solution is to shame these silly people senseless.
I actually spoke with a developer who admitted “West Roscoe Village” was a realtor pipe dream, he got angry as I showed one of his buildings in my June article here:

But then it turned out one of his underlings had indeed been on Craig’s List (where I found it), promoting the West Roscoe Village usage.
Now what I’d really like to know is exactly who is behind changing Lake View into Lakeview. What the hell is up with that? Why bother? Are Logansquare and Lincolnpark far behind…?
by the way, based on random searches on Craig’s List, I’d say I’m winning. Not a single property was listed under that name, although I did see a car listed under “this is in or around West Roscoe Village.”
I love that. How can anything be “In or around” an area?
