It’s been a long time since Yo looked at California Estates, a set of 16 townhouses in the 1800 North block of California Avenue. Readers and writers at that time liked the idea of these four-bedroom, three-bath (plus two half-bath) townhouses in Humboldt Park – but were a little disappointed in the choice of facades and the indecorous aluminum siding.
Some buyers must like the houses, however, because only one remains on the market today. We took a tour of that house, a “Diego” model priced in the $940s, with Joe Dupor of Property Consultants. (The townhouses started in the $670s back in the day.) What do you think? Does it seem any more desirable in 2008 than it did back in ’06?
