Salvation Army taking resale upscale in Lincoln Park

There are “glorious changes coming our way,” according to a video recently posted at YouTube on behalf of the Salvation Army’s Lincoln Park thrift store.

Proposals for the redevelopment of the Salvation Army’s 4-acre site at 2258 N Clybourn recently passed zoning and Plan Commission hurdles. Demolition of parts of the existing facility is scheduled to begin next week, according to SA’s Facebook page.

The redeveloped site will include 160 parking spaces, 35,000 square feet of single-floor “upscale resale” retail space and a new donation / reclamation center.

This may be the largest Lincoln Park development to pass without a hint of public controversy. A sign of universal respect for the efforts of the Salvation Army?
