Save the date for Cloud Gate

It’s official — the ribbon-cutting dedication ceremony for Anish Kapoor’s Cloud Gate sculpture in Millennium Park is set for 11 a.m. on Monday, May 15 in the park’s At&T Plaza.

There will also be a free lecture/discussion featuring Kapoor at the Chicago Cultural Center across the street. That begins at 1:30 p.m.

But here’s possibly the coolest thing about all of it: Chicago jazz veteran Orbert Davis will premiere “Fanfare for Cloud Gate,” a new piece he wrote for the ceremony. He’ll play with the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic brass section. Go, daddy, go.
