The Sun-Times is reporting that Golub & Co. is seeking zoning approval to build a 42-story high-rise and an 11-story building on a site between Grand and Ohio immediately east of Streeter Place. The site is currently used as a surface parking lot.
The Sun-Times article notes the number of new apartment projects that are underway or proposed, describing the current pace of planning as a “headlong rush.”
Architects for the project will be Solomon Cordwell Buenz, which designed Streeter Place and The Streeter.
At 55 stories, Streeter Place towers over the proposed 42-story building, but it seems likely that east views from Streeter Place’s lower floors will be blocked by the new building. The wall of high-rises along Grand Ave at that point, however, already impedes views of the lake to some extent.
