We’re used to seeing the Park West at night, so we were a bit surprised to walk by the theater in broad daylight and see this gray, clunky exterior. Guess it gives us another reason to not judge a book by its cover.
The Park West, 322 W Armitage Ave, is one of the best music venues in Chicago. You can see well from nearly any point in the theatre – and believe us, that helps when you’re under 5’5″ and standing behind a six-foot giant.
The venue has an unusually low stage – perhaps because it opened as the Park Lane vaudeville theater in 1925 and was converted to the Town Theater in 1935 (it’s been a night club since the 1970s).
