During our brief walk down Division Street earlier this month, Eric Rojas and I stopped a couple times, once near Moonshine at Division and Marion and again near the Milk & Honey Cafe between Wolcott and Winchester, to talk more about Wicker Park, Ukrainian Village, and the greater West Town community area from a real estate perspective. Here, Eric offers some thoughts on the area’s schools, and then gives me a rundown on price ranges and medians for its condos and single-families.

Watch the first segment of our Division Street walk and our recent tour through a three-bedroom duplex priced in the $360s through YoChicago’s YouTube channel.

  • What about the La Salle Magnet II School that was right near to you at Moonshine. (the school is located at Division and Wolcott)

  • Brad, you’re correct La Salle is a better example to that exact location than Drummond on Cortland and Pritzker. Drummond and La Salle being very comparable small, desired schools. These videos are from the hip and I don’t get everything in. I guess my point was people are not moving there for the “boundary” schools.

With more weight now given to neighborhood kids in the lottery, parents have a better shot at getting in to their nearest magnet school.
