Second-largest Whole Foods in North America headed for Chicago

The second-largest Whole Foods in North America will soon open its doors in Chicago. The Chicago Plan Commission has approved developer CRM Properties‘ proposal for an 85,000-square-foot store on 3.16 acres at West Weed and North Kingsbury streets. The store will replace an existing Whole Foods which is located located in a shopping mall north of the new development at 1000 W North Ave.

The new four-story building will have 360 parking spaces and two levels of additional retail. Apparently the developer will landscape a 10-foot wide pedestrian walkway along the nearby North Branch canal of the Chicago River, and a terrace will connect Whole Foods customers to the riverwalk.
