Sellers, beware of annoying Realtor pricing tactics

If you’re in touch with Realtors you have, like me, recently endured a flurry of email and social media reminders to set your clock back. Is there any other profession or business, apart from Nigerian con artists, that engages its audience as lazily, annoyingly and ineffectively as Realtors?

Anyone who receives daily listing updates from Realtors is also subject to another form of irritating spam – the no-change price change. A not-unusual pattern: down $100; up $100; down $100; up $100; repeat bi-weekly for years.

Buyers – and, more importantly, other agents – are turned off by this tactic, and often conclude that the subject property is a dog that must be avoided at any price.

If you’re a home seller who’s wondering why your home isn’t selling, it might be because your Realtor is telling the market, while yammering for attention, that your home isn’t worth paying attention to.
