Set the TiVo: It's TV time for 1555 Wabash

1555 Wabash, 1555 S Wabash Ave, ChicagoFor months now, we’ve heard the folks at New West Realty gush about 1555 Wabash taking a star turn in the DIY Network show Project Xtreme. We’ve heard about it for so long, in fact, that I was beginning to wonder if I had missed the episode completely. Never fear, says the development’s blog: The episode finally will air next Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 9 p.m.

DIY’s online summary makes it sound like the episode will focus more on nitty-gritty construction work than on the features of 1555 Wabash in particular, but you never know — there might be something in there that pique’s a buyer’s interest:

The host of Project Xtreme – Matt Blashaw – may be a contractor on single family homes, but he’s never faced the challenge of erecting a 15 story concrete condominium. At the construction site of what will soon be “1555 Wabash” in the fast-growing South Loop of Chicago, Matt joins the construction crew to do every grueling job in the process – from tying off massive grids of steel rebar, to pouring liquid concrete while hanging 15 stories above the streets of Chicago, to trying to hold onto a runaway monster concrete polisher.

Major construction has wrapped on the high-rise, located at 1555 S Wabash Ave, and closings will begin as soon as certificates of occupancy are in place, says Terrie Whittaker, New West’s president of sales and marketing. The prices of listed units currently runs from the $240s for an 844 square-foot one-bedroom / one-bath condo to the $320s for a 1,192 square-foot two-bedroom / two-bath.
