South Loop status: Some homes close at Museum Park Place South, but most linger

Museum Park Place South, 1901 S Calumet Ave, Chicago

I guess Museum Park Place South isn’t so quiet after all. Since October, 61 condos have closed at the tower, located at 1901 S Calumet Ave in the South Loop, and its sales staff says the building now has occupants.

The closings included 30 one-bedrooms that sold from the $250s to $300s, 24 two-bedrooms that sold from the $320s to $510s, and seven three-bedrooms that sold from the $590s to $650s, according to records from Cook County and the MLS. Another 41 units are under contract.

That still comes to just 102 units, or just 35 percent of the tower’s total of 288. Ralph Oliva of Coldwell Banker has listed all 186 of the remaining one- to three-bedrooms from the $270s to $650s.

A dozen homes, all closed units, are listed as rentals on the MLS. They range from $1,250 a month for a 725 square-foot one-bedroom up to $4,900 for a 1,650 square-foot three-bedroom.

The Enterprise Companies offers a variety of finishes through its design center, but standard homes would have features like hardwood floors in the living / dining rooms, foyers, and kitchens; carpeting in the bedrooms; closets with vinyl wire shelving; kitchens with granite countertops, GE appliances, and track lighting; master baths with tile floors and tub surrounds and marble vanity tops; and in-unit laundry hook-ups.

Amenities at Museum Park Place South include a rooftop sundeck with a heated outdoor pool, a fitness center, and a hospitality room with kitchen; 24-hour door staff; a full-time building engineer and on-site property manager; and individual storage lockers and bike storage areas.
