South Loop's Columbian nearing completion

The Columbian Most of what’s springing up in nearby Museum Park is modern, heavy on glass and concrete, but The Columbian, at Michigan Avenue and Roosevelt Road, is fronted with the kind of traditional red brick that, once the construction elevator is removed, will makes it look like it’s been there for a long time. Maybe not since the World’s Columbian Exposition, but since, say, 30 years after, when Art Deco designers were celebrating height in skyscrapers rather than trying to mask it.

The 46-story, 225-unit building is 70 percent sold, according to sales executive Matthew Hollman, and prices on remaining one- to three-bedroom units range from the $770s to the $850s.
