Talking points for agents – never mind the bad news, all real estate is local

Realtor Magazine has some nifty tips for agents, who it says should be on the frontline in fighting negative perceptions about the current real estate market propagated by nasty media types. It’s up to agents “to show consumers that the national story probably doesn’t mirror their local realities,” Lawrence Yun, senior National Association of Realtors economist, is quoted as saying.

But if all the local realities are good, where’d that negative national story come from?

Never mind that – quick, look over here. “Nationally, housing prices have increased 50 percent in the last 25 years,” Yun says. One of his biggest tips, along with downplaying the sub-prime lending debacle and record debt levels, is encouraging agents to give the long view. The longer the better.
