This Victorian gem is on the 2100 block of West Pierce Avenue in the Wicker Park Historic District. It’s surrounded by plenty of other ornate Victorians, but the balconies on this house, combined with the intricate lattice work and stained glass detailing in the transom windows, make it a standout.
This is one of my favorite houses on one of the coolest blocks in the city. The extra-wide lot with a suburban-scaled side yard sweetens an already amazing package.
I used to live around there, and always LOVED that house. I read a story once about how 100 years ago a well-heeled Polish owner would play classical piano on the porch for the gathering neighbors to hear.
