The Donald isn't laughing about this condo development

Get ready. As if there aren’t enough luxury high-rise buildings already on their way up, Chicagoist reports today that the building formerly known as the Fordham Spire is scheduled to break ground in early 2007 and be completed in 2010. So now you can stop saying, “They’re not going to build that thing.” (And Trump can start throwing a real hissy fit.)

The crazy twisty skyscraper was given the dull and uninspiring name of 400 North Lake Shore Drive after the property was sold from The Fordham Company to Irish developer Garrett Kelleher. It is still slated to be 124 stories high and contain a 20-story, five-star hotel and 50,000 square feet of retail space. No word on what stores are slated to occupy what may be the most expensive downtown real estate to date. Any suggestions? Or how about a cooler name for the soon-to-be tallest building in North America?
