Chicago Magazine’s Dennis Rodkin visited the penthouse at 200 North Dearborn on a much nicer day in the Loop than March 14, when I shot the above photo there.
I didn’t write about the penthouse at the time, but Rodkin just did and he’s also posted a gallery of photos at his Deal Estate column that are far superior to mine.
The “penthouse” struck me as more wishful thinking than imminent reality. The high parapet wall that you see above blocks some of the views and the Leo Burnett building is a major visual barrier to the immediate northeast. I wouldn’t describe the scene, as Rodkin does, as “views all around of some of the Loop’s greatest architecture.”
Head over to Deal Estate to read the details of the project’s “value proposition” vs Trump Tower’s.
