Our earlier posts spotlighted the South Loop apartment buildings with the best views, most convenient grocery shopping and best access to public transit.
Two South Loop buildings, 1130 South Michigan and Park Michigan, are directly across the street from Grant Park and have the best proximity to 12th Street Beach.
There isn’t, however, much to do at the south end of Grant Park, and the beach and the park’s main attractions are about a mile away.
The South Loop building with the best access to Millennium Park and Grant Park’s formal gardens and playing fields is Astoria Tower.
Dearborn Park, a half-block west of Astoria Tower on 9th St, is a little-known public park with a dense tree canopy, a small playground, green space, a walking path and a fitness course.
Follow the fitness course and you’ll arrive at Roosevelt Park, also public, which has another small playground, a large green area and three tennis courts.
