The South Loop’s best apartments – Public transit access

The first posts in our series on the best South Loop apartments spotlighted the buildings with the best views and most convenient grocery shopping.

Deciding which buildings have the best access to public transit will depend on where your daily commute generally takes you and whether you get there by bus or train.

Three buildings are closest to the Roosevelt Road stop on the CTA’s Red, Green and Orange lines: Park Michigan, 1130 South Michigan and Sky55.

A wide variety of CTA bus routes criss-cross the area, with stops at or near the buildings.

If Red Line access is your priority, Astoria Tower is 3 short blocks south of the Harrison station.

If you commute to the southwest side or the south suburbs, Burnham Pointe is closest to Metra’s LaSalle Street station. The building is also close to the CTA’s LaSalle / Van Buren stop, with access to four train lines.

The LEX has the best proximity to Metra’s Electric Line for commuters to the University of Chicago and points south. The CTA recently began construction on a new Green Line station on Cermak Rd, a block-and-a-half west of The LEX.
