Over the next few days we’ll be bringing you a series of clips from the recent presentation on The Chicago Spire.

In this must-watch segment architect Santiago Calatrava shows off some of his heady ideas for The Spire’s door handles.

We’re looking forward to the comments on this one.

  • Calatrava leaves no stone unturned. I think the handles are fantastic.

  • Yeah, I’m impressed with the attention to detail. That’s seems to be rare these days.

  • Calatrave leaves no grave unturned. I agree, this is a nice novelty at first, but the 100th time you have to open a door by putting your fingers into the mouth or eye socket of a human skull, it may begin to get a little strange. However, if the point is to “humanize” the design and provoke thought, then there is nothing more human and thought provoking than a human skull.
