In the second part of our series on luxury rentals, we focus on The Streeter, a 48-story, 481-unit tower located at 345 E Ohio St in Streeterville. The building, which opened last year, is the first foray into residential development for Golub and Company in 20 years. Currently, 56 percent of the apartments are occupied, says Rachel T. Brandstaetter, The Streeter’s leasing director.
Prospective residents can choose between 14 different floor plans. Rents start at $1,274 for a 585-square-foot studio and go up to $4,029 for a three-bedroom, three-bathroom unit with a den spanning 1,813 square feet (these prices reflect the management’s current incentive of one month’s free rent, spread over the term of the lease).
Standard features include granite countertops, white appliances, carpeted living areas and floor-to-ceiling windows. The entire seventh floor is dedicated to amenities including a well-stocked library (books are checked out on the honor system), a business center with 10 computers and a copy room. A private party room with a kitchen is available for rent. A media center has couches, bar seating and a 60-inch plasma TV.
An extensive fitness center has free weights and machines, an indoor resistance pool, a whirlpool and a partial basketball court. Men’s and women’s locker rooms also have steam rooms and saunas. An outdoor pool and landscaped sundeck are available during the summer.
Basic utilities such as heat and electricity are not included in the rent. The window glass is specially insulated and the building features the four-pipe system, which allows tenants to switch between heat and air conditioning throughout the year.
Parking at The Streeter, managed by Standard Parking, ranges from $235 to $325 per month. Cats are allowed with a non-refundable fee of $300. Dogs are allowed, but breed restrictions apply and there is a non-refundable fee is $500.
