The views from Legacy’s penthouses

“Legacy is all about the views,” said Mesa Development‘s Jim Hanson during our pre-completion tour of Legacy‘s 71st floor in April of 2009. The views were dazzling, as you can see from the above photos shot by Michael Kardas. Mark Boyer, who joined us on the tour and shot the following video of the views in all directions, called them “breathtaking.”

The full floor 71st floor penthouse (floor plan below) has 13-foot ceilings and nearly floor-to-ceiling windows. It spans 9,301 square feet and boasts 5 bedrooms, 6 ½ baths and a variety of expansive living spaces.

The 71st floor was under contract at the time of our tour, but there’s no public record of its having sold and it’s not currently listed in the MLS. A 4,757 square foot, 3-bedroom, 3 ½ bath penthouse is listed for sale at $3,400,000. A 4,378 square foot penthouse on the 70th floor closed in May at a purchase price of $2,750,000, according to public records.

As you can see in the aerial image, Legacy soars high above its Millennium Park neighbors. You can see more of our aerial photos of Chicago at Flickr.
