On Thursday morning I went on a driving tour of Washington Park with Brandon Johnson, executive director of the new Washington Park Consortium, a non-profit organization working on a number of improvement initiatives in the South Side community. As Johnson took me through the neighborhood streets, we talked about the history of the neighborhood, the health of its homes and businesses, and the Consortium’s plans for the future, including the potential impact of the 2016 Summer Olympics.
At the start of our drive, I had Johnson talk about the Consortium’s role in Washington Park, and about a new neighborhood quality-of-life plan published by LISC/Chicago‘s New Communities Program.
