Let’s take a closer look at The Winchester, a high-rise planned for 3175 N Hudson Ave, alongside H3177, its predecessor. Yo covered H3177’s marketing push quite a bit over the last year, and this latest effort has at least one notable difference.
There are no one-bedroom homes in The Winchester, according to Deborah Greenberg, of Koenig & Strey. H3177 had a few, but the interior layout has since been retooled to offer larger homes for Lake View’s luxury buyers. The two-bedroom condos are organized six per floor, and the three-bedroom homes are four per floor.
Several floor plans enjoy the development’s curved glass corner, and at least one (Unit A) has sold out, according to Greenberg.
All told, six condos have sold since the Koenig & Strey team took over marketing. Forty-one of The Winchester’s 47 condos remain for sale. Prices start in the $380s and range up to $1.9 million. Heated garage parking starts at $28,000.
Greenberg says groundbreaking is planned for August (once the project reaches 30 percent sold) and deliveries are expected in late 2009.
I prefer the old version. The new brick color doesn’t go with the metal panel.

I can’t find the “old” rendering but I do have two photos of it that I took at the original grand opening party, just over a year ago on March 1, 2007.
The first shot is only a partial view of the rendering. The second is a full-on view but has some reflection from my flash.
From what I can tell the current rendering is identical with the original one. The coloring of the brick is different, but that may be nothing more than JPG artifacts as the digital image was compressed. Note the individuals on the balconies, the cars in the street, the clouds in the sky, etc. No difference from one to the next, except that the colors of the cars and the sky also appear less vivid in the current one we’re displaying.
I spoke with the sales agent yesterday and she said that the new rendering reflects some design changes to the exterior, mainly changing the color of the facing brick (as Stokes pointed out) and changing the balconies a little. I’ll try to dig up the old rendering.

Thanks for the pics. Yes, they changed teh balcony “railings” from all glass to actual railings. I prefer the original brick color..
