The worst is over for the housing bust

That’s the consensus view of nearly two-thirds of the economists polled by the Wall Street Journal’s WSJ.com ($ site) in its economic forecasting survey.

By a narrow margin (24 to 20) the economists expect home prices to rise by an average of 2.8% this year and fall by 0.5% next year. There are signs, according to the Journal that the “most drastic parts of the downturn … have run their course.”
