Thrush opens Shakespeare Court model

The Thrush Companies has opened a new model at Shakespeare Court, a new-construction development of 42 condominiums and townhouses on 46th Street between Ellis and Greenwood, in North Kenwood.
The development includes 36 condos with terraces that overlook a landscaped courtyard and six nearby townhouses. The condo building plays off an existing vintage building to form the landscaped courtyard and at first glance, appears to be a longtime resident in the neighborhood.

The new model was decorated by interior designer Tracy Holmes of Studio H, a Chicago-based design firm. The 1,440-square-foot condo has two bedrooms, two baths, a large terrace and nine-foot ceilings throughout.

Units at Shakespeare Court are priced from the $230s to the $250s and currently include $17,000 in free upgrades as a grand opening sales incentive. Free upgrades include granite countertops, a Whirlpool black appliance package, 36-inch maple cabinets, hardwood floors in living areas, fireplaces and Whirlpool tubs.

The model décor is “African and contemporary abstract.”

“We mixed it,” Holmes said. “Some of the pieces definitely have an African flavor to them and some of them are really, up-to-date contemporary abstracts. Some of the decorative pieces are more classic figurative. There’s a nice mix. A lot of the accessories have that sort of global, rustic kind of feeling. It’s a global urban theme.”

At press time, 30 of the 42 units had been sold. Buyers can move into their units within 60 days, according to Len Koenig, sales and marketing director for Thrush.

The development is one of the latest by the Thrush Companies, which also built the Shakespeare Townhomes, located at 46th and Woodlawn, just down the street. Thrush has been a pioneer in the North Kenwood-Oakland area, participating in the city’s Parade of Homes there and spurring development.

The sales center for Shakespeare Court is located in unit 206 at the Shakespeare Townhome development, 4530 S. Woodlawn.
