Touring the Chicago Model City

As a part of the year-long celebration commemorating Daniel Burnham’s 1909 civic plan for Chicago, the Chicago Architecture Foundation has unveiled a scale model of downtown Chicago, including representations of every building from 16th Street to Grand Avenue and Lake Michigan to Halsted Street, as well as the portions of River North, Streeterville, and the Gold Coast between Grand and Oak.

Joe Askins of YoChicago.com and NewHomeNotebook.com visited the model in June 2009 and talked to the Chicago Archictecture Foundation staff about the exhibit’s creation and purpose.
