Now that you’ve seen all of my Beverly / Morgan Park drive-around with Marcia Walsh, let’s look at some of the homes for sale in both neighborhoods.
Metra’s Rock Island District line runs southwest through Beverly and Morgan Park on its way from the Loop to Joliet. Eight of the neighborhoods’ stations are located along the Rock Island’s “suburban line,” which follows 89th Street, Wood Street, Walden Parkway, and Hale Avenue from Brainerd down to Blue Island. A ninth, located at the five-corner intersection of 103rd Street and Vincennes and Beverly avenues, is active only during rush hours.
Several of the homes currently for sale in Beverly and Morgan Park are located within walking distance of these train stations. Examples include:
- A Prairie-style single-family home at 9142 S Winchester Ave. This 93-year old three-bedroom / three-bath home with 2,694 square feet sits on a 100′ x 175′ lot and features a new roof, hardwood floors, two fireplaces, and a two-car garage. A three-minute walk will get you to Metra’s 91st Street station. PRS Associates has listed the home in the $410s.
- A two-bedroom / 1.5-bath Ranch-style home at 9439 S Longwood Dr. This home is just a block away from the 95th Street station — in fact, the train line runs directly behind the home’s back yard. Gem Realty just listed the home in the $210s.
- A four-bedroom / 1.5-bath single-family home (above) at 1746 W Beverly Glen Pkwy. This 1,500 square-foot home, located just east of the 99th Street station, has refinished hardwood floors, new electrical fixtures, original crown molding, and Art Deco detailing, according to Consumers Choice Realty‘s listing. It’s priced in the $310s.
- Unit A at 1863 W 107th St. This nine-year old townhome has three bedrooms, two baths, newly refinished hardwood floors, a fireplace, a balcony, and a two-car garage, and the 107th Street station is practically next door. It’s listed by PRS in the $270s.
