Triangle notes: Tunney keeps Wrigleyville hotel pint-sized

More news from last night’s Triangle Neighbors Assocation meeting:

New hotel
Developer Tim Collins, who has plans for an 18-room boutique hotel at 3473 – 3475 N Clark St, said that his request to rezone the site from B3-2 to B3-5 had been blocked by Ald Tom Tunney (44th). The change would have allowed Collins to add a couple of stories to the existing three-story building, expanding it to 24 suites. The hotel is scheduled to open in summer 2008.

New condos
Koenig & Strey GMAC and MK Development Group want C3 zoning instead of C2 in order to develop a 24-unit condo project with ground-floor retail and two-bedroom units priced from the high $300s to mid-$400s. The proposed building would be built on the site of Brompton Body Shop, whose parking lot is used for Cubs parking. Current zoning for the site, at 3532 N Halsted St, allows for eight to 12 units. Community residents at the meeting expressed concern about increased congestion from cars along Halsted Street if the development was allowed to grow.

New location
Mickey Hornick says he wants to move his vegetarian restaurant, The Chicago Diner, 3411 N Halsted St, to build a bigger restaurant at 3410 N Halsted St.

New license
A representative from Red Ivy, 3525 N Clark St., says the restaurant is looking to gain a Public Place of Amusement (PPA) license in order to charge covers during the week for live entertainment.
