Iconic high-rises like Trump International Hotel & Tower change the skyline – the postcard view of Chicago. But they can have a subtler presence, too, viewed from a busy intersection or across the intervening cityscape. We snapped these photos while walking from River North to Streeterville yesterday.

Construction is moving ahead on the project, since last we checked. Questions linger, though, about whether it’s moving fast enough for the hotel portion of the building to open in December, as Donald Trump insists it will.
