Trump's head in the clouds

Trump International Hotel & TowerThe Trump International Hotel & Tower now resides in a part of the sky where only a handful of Chicago buildings dwell. In Thursday’s haze, it was easy to pretend that the building was complete, and that I simply couldn’t see the top through all the fog.

It’s not complete, of course, but you can get an idea of how it’ll look when finished by visiting Blair Kamin’s new blog, The Skyline. Kamin yesterday posted an enthusiast’s homemade composite, which combines a recent photo of the Trump construction site with elements from Skidmore, Owings & Merrill‘s original rendering. It’s not all that different from the old concept art, but it feels a little more real.

Trump recently announced the closing of its 125th hotel condominium, and sales agents are back to claiming that 75 percent of the building’s 825 homes have sold.
