Urban living in suburban Wilmette

If you’re a confirmed urbanite you might be shocked by how closely parts of Wilmette mimic a city lifestyle, and even more shocked by how pleasant and livable they are. You’ll want to weep when you compare Wilmette and Chicago public schools, parks and crime rates.

This new construction home at 225 10th St is 4 blocks to Evanston’s Central Street (a walkable gem with good restaurants and shops), 4 blocks to downtown Wilmette, 4 blocks from two different Metra stations, and a 10-minute walk to the Linden El. The commute downtown is shorter than from many parts of the city.

Walker Bros pancake house and Dominick’s are almost across the street from this home.

Watch as Lyn Flannery of Coldwell Banker tells us more about this newly-built home (5 bedrooms, 5 ½ baths, $1.5M) and its urbanesque environment.

The seller is offering a free Portugese water dog (I’m not making that up) to the buyer.

The second part of this video is at YouTube, where you can see more Wilmette video on our YoNorthShore and YoChicago playlists. You’ll also find tons of our Wilmette photos at Flickr.

Added note: Hat tip to Jeff Kerr for picking up on WalkScore.com, a site that rates the “walkability” of neighborhoods. 225 10th St in Wilmette has a higher walkability score (80) than Jeff’s home address in West DePaul (78).
