This is the seventh of a week’s worth of suggestions on where to take your honey on Valentine’s Day. We’re talking dinner here. (And yes, I realize that countdowns usually count down.)
Suggestion: SUSHISAMBA rio, 504 N. Wells, 312-595-2300
This hipster restaurant with the strong backbeat is offering a five-course aphrodisiac dinner on Valentine’s Day (tonight!). Menu highlights include chilled oysters, assorted sushi, lamb sweetbreads, and Brazilian and Japanese chocolates. You can see the price coming from a mile away — $69 per person. (Shouldn’t that be $69 per couple?) Anyway, tax and gratuity are extra, and the a la carte menu is in play all night long. There are drink specials, too.
After dinner, head upstairs to the rooftop deck for maybe a nightcap. It’s enclosed and heated up there, and very moody in a good way. When the L rolls by in the distance, lean into your honey and say, “Whaddysay we get out of this place, maybe take a ride on a train?” Gets them every time.
