Yesterday afternoon, Joe Zekas and I visited Vetro, Roszak / ADC‘s 31-story high-rise at 611 S Wells St in the South Loop. Joe and I didn’t take advantage of the free head and neck massages, but we did have a look at the seventh-floor amenities level, and I toured the penthouse level with Rebecca Farrell from Baird & Warner. Farrell introduced me to a recent buyer, who spoke with us for a moment about the decision-making process.

Stay tuned for another video from Vetro, in which Farrell shows me around a couple of 31st-floor penthouses.

  • Even in this environment some condos are still selling. My favorite unit at Vetro just had its listing pulled, meaning a likely buyer, am I jealous? You bet. I’m not the least bit surprised as it was very competitively priced.

Nice vid guys keep em coming!

  • Did that say Opening Party? Vetro has been seemingly been on the market for years! Bob, you had your chance on that unit for the last 16 months! 🙂

  • Yes Stokes but it sold in a little over two weeks at the reduced price.

  • This is obviously not the first opening party for Vetro. It’s not uncommon for projects of this size to have several “opening” parties – pre-construction, when construction launches, when the building’s complete, when a new marketing team (as in this case) takes over, ,etc.

  • I guess I just wouldnt’ call them “Grand” then…I’ve toured and watched these units for quite some time. I really liked the building during it’s pre-construction phase, I liked it more once it started going up. Then the market went south, lending tightened up, nobody bought units and the developer refused to drop the prices for so long that I gave up on looking in this building. Had the drop occured sooner, I think they would’ve had more buyers…

  • Bob, Stokes

Since you both know the building, it would be great if you’d write a review (follow the link above) at our New Home Notebook site.

  • Will do Joe. Can I suggest removing the sign in feature for reviewing buildings? I think more people will respond if it’s easier direct access…

  • Stokes,

Thanks for the suggestion. We’ve given a great deal of thought to this and are requiring sign-ins to set a more serious tone on NewHomeNotebook.

Ratings anrd reviews – positive and negative – will be more trusted and have more authority if they come from someone who at least gives up a valid e-mail address. E-mail addresses are not public, and we do nothing with those e-mails. We realize that not everyone will believe that. People can still pick a screen name that preserves their anonymity.

There are lots of considerations on both sides of the issue, and we’re aware that some people simply will not register. We’d rather have fewer participants and a better level of content than more participants and the baggage that comes along with that.

  • Point taken.
I just think it deters alot of people that would normally review once they see the sign in.
