Web presence: Alta at K Station site updated with prices, floor plans, and more

Alta at K Station, 555 W Kinzie St, Chicago

The not-quite-twin towers of Alta at K Station at 555 W Kinzie St will have added well over 800 new apartments to the Fulton River District‘s inventory by the middle of 2010, so it’s time to start paying attention to what the project has to offer.

Until this month, Alta’s Web site has been little more than a placeholder page for something bigger and better. Sometime in the past three weeks, a full site premiered, complete with the usual suite of floor plans, amenity lists, renderings, and contact info fields.

The site’s “News” section is brief but to the point: The development’s leasing center opens on Feb. 15, and move-ins will start on March 1. According to the Alta leasing staff, the 39-story, 420-unit west tower (sometimes called “Cirrus”) will open first, with the 41-story, 428-unit east tower (“Alta”) following around June. For now, leasing agents are working out of an apartment next door in the Echelon at K Station tower.

Visitors eventually will be able to pull up pricing and availability info for specific units. For now, all you get is a breakdown of starting prices for each apartment type:

  • Studios with 508  to 609 square feet, starting at $1,295 a month
  • One-bedrooms with 561 to 868 square feet, starting at $1,565 a month
  • Two-bedrooms with 1,104 to 1,172 square feet, starting at $2,400 a month
  • Two- and three-bedroom penthouses with 1,110 to 1,972 square feet, starting at $3,100 a month

All apartments will feature kitchens with granite countertops, wood-paneled cabinets, porcelain floors, and GE stainless-steel appliances; baths with ceramic tile floors and surrounds and marble vanity tops; floor-to-ceiling windows; wall-to-wall carpeting; and in-unit washer / dryer. Like Echelon, about half of Alta’s floor plans have balconies.

Alta’s outdoor deck (seen above), located atop its seven-story parking garage, will have a pool, spa, fire pit, grilling area, and cabanas. Adjacent to the deck is an indoor amenity space featuring a wireless “cyber café,” fitness room, lounge, business center, 22-seat theater, basketball court, party suite, and men’s and women’s saunas and locker rooms.

Other amenities include a 24-hour door staff, concierge, on-site dry cleaning, building-wide Wi-Fi access, bike storage, and Zipcar access.
