Inspired by Dennis Rodkin’s “Gallery of Low Prices” on the Chicago Magazine Deal Estate blog, I started sifting through downtown homes listed at or below $100,000, just to see where they were and how they were described.
It turns out that just one unit in the Loop is priced at $100,000: a 429 square-foot studio at Century Tower, 182 W Lake St. Since going on the market in October, its price has dropped by $35,000. The listing from Coldwell Banker agent Stefanie Neuman doesn’t have a lot to say about the unit itself — Neuman focuses more on the building’s location and amenities like a rooftop deck, a fitness room, and a 24-hour door staff. With something this small and simple, there probably isn’t much room to talk about anything else.
