Next month New Homes Magazine will declare its list of Chicago’s “hottest neighborhoods.” That made us wonder what it is that makes a neighborhood “hot.” The potential for above-average appreciation is obviously the key part of the equation. The amount of new construction underway, or on the way, might be a factor, and the growth of retail and services would seem to contribute to neighborhood heat.
