From what we read over on the Mortgage Fraud Blog, law enforcement agencies from Massachusetts to California have been actively cracking down on mortgage fraud, title insurance and other real-estate related scams.
What we don’t see, however, are many stories about law-enforcement efforts in Chicago and Illinois. Is that because there’s less mortgage fraud and fewer bad guys and gals here? Or because we have lax, ineffective or corrupt law enforcement? Or what?
Chicago used to have more than its fair share of real estate rogues and robbers. Are we losing that historic edge and lapsing into honesty?
